“Too bad you and I will be busy all day in the lobby. I’d like to interrogate a few of these guys who work here…”
Andy came close to draining the remainder of his whiskey from the heavy glass tumbler and set it back on the bar. “Keep your voice down, I don’t want to blow our cover. And for a variety of reasons, it’s important that we’re cautious when interviewing the staff here. I think Teddy will be perfect for that task.”
Dan nodded in agreement. “No arguments from me, boss. So, where are you going to have him start?”
“The manager and the concierge. They both have heavy drawls and seem to come and go freely from the building.”
“I wonder if either of them are army men.”
“We’ll soon find out.”
Chapter Eleven
Andy knocked on the door that connected their rooms. “Ashley, can I come in? I just had a couple of drinks with Dan in the bar and want to fill you in on what we discussed.”
“I was just about to get into the shower. I’ll call you as soon as I’m out.”
His mouth curled at the edges as he knocked again. “How about if we get cleaned up together? It’s been a long day, and I’m feeling kinda dirty right now.”
“I’m coming. I’m coming.” Wrapped in a towel, she finally opened the adjoining door. “My boyfriend is feeling dirty?” she said, leaning on the doorway entrance. “What a surprise.”
He bent over and softly covered her lips with his. “Mmm. I hope my bad girl hasn’t been touching herself while I’ve been gone.”
“Nope. But I have been busy partying with a bottle of Chardonnay from the room bar,” she said, her adorable cheeks flushing crimson from his embarrassing comment. “And I must say, it hit the spot after our exhausting day. So, how did happy hour go?”
“Shower first, conversation details later.”

Turning on the faucet, Andy adjusted the water temperature and took Ashley by the hand, steadying her as they entered the large walk-in shower area. After making sure her hair and body were soaking wet, his finger rotated in a familiar way—signaling that he wanted to start by soaping up her back.
As she compliantly turned around, he grabbed a bar of soap and lathered his hands before seductively massaging her neck and shoulders. “This is just what the doctor ordered for us after such a long day, my dear.” As the soapy foam drained down her back, Andy’s palms lowered to massage her rosy bum before cautiously delving his fingertip inside to make sure her little bottom was completely crystal clean.
With a squirt of body wash from the shelf, Ashley twirled around to nuzzle up underneath his chiseled chin as she reached to bring his softened cock to life with some slippery soapy bubbles. Moving to caress her velvety breasts with suds, he rinsed them by dribbling warm water across her nipples, watching them jut out and appear delightfully stiff.
“Turn around, please,” he said, reaching out a hand, guiding her to hold on to the bath rail, so he could cleanse her most intimate areas. Sliding his soapy palm over her back, he stopped for a minute to admire her beautiful full buttocks before smoothing the tips of his sudsy digits down the cleft of her cheeks. But before she could prepare herself for his next move, he slowly slid his nimble fingers into the slit of her slick, wanton sex and teased her sensitive skin, circling her hardening bud.
“Jesus. Do you really need to take that much time bathing my pussy?” she sassed, raising her eyes up to the ceiling. “For God’s sake, how clean do you need me to be?”
“Stand still and behave,” he directed with a playful smack to her wet backside. “Would my girl with the smart mouth like me to give her a shower or a spanking?”
Her dark eyelashes instantly lowered. “A shower.”
“Intelligent decision,” he commented with quiet patience, “and if my memory serves me correctly, I’m still the one in command, correct?”
“You are, Lieutenant,” she said in a small voice, the apology clear in her tone.
“Good to hear. Now bend your knees and stop fussing, so I can make sure every inch of you is sparkling clean.”
Ashley twisted her neck and crossed her eyes as she submitted to him. “You love to watch me squirm, don’t you?”
She was right about that. He loved nothing more than to embarrass her and wanted the tone of his voice to indicate that his next move would be absolutely humiliating. “Finger in your bottom, sweet girl.”
Trying to wiggle away as he rubbed his wet finger over her crinkled tight hole earned her another well-placed swat across her rump, so once again she reluctantly bent her knees in submission.
“That’s my girl,” he whispered, “now push your rear end out so I can make sure that your beautiful pink rosebud is clean as a whistle.” Palming her cheek to the side, he leaned in close and flicked her anus twice with the very tip of his tongue before sliding it inside.
“Oh, my God! Are you crazy?”
“Hush, and be still, my sweet,” he insisted as he firmly wrapped his arm around her waist and gave her fleshy mounds a loving squeeze before sliding a sudsy finger deep into her puckered entrance. Prodding her legs apart with his palms, he widened her stance even further and steadied her hands against the shower wall before driving his digit in and out of her tight hole with even strokes until she let out a heavy satisfied groan.
“Oh, God, oh, God! Please don’t stop!”
“My girl likes my finger in her ass, doesn’t she?”
“And you love to see my face turn as red as a cherry, don’t you?”
Andy’s serious demeanor didn’t waver as he removed a towel from the bar, folded it, and placed it on the tile floor beneath the smooth marble seat in the shower. “I’m sure you’re exhausted, so why don’t you sit for a while,” he said, guiding her to the built-in bench, allowing the water to flow over her in steamy sprays before kneeling at her feet. After spreading her legs, his smile was wide before his head moved into position to taste her warm juicy nectar.
“I could dine on this luscious pussy all night. Maybe we should forget about going out for dinner and order room service, instead,” he whispered seductively, cupping her hind cheeks to draw her soft cunt closer to his mouth. His lips and tongue worked their way up and down her plump labia slowly and gently before delving inside to roll over her hardening bud. Continuing to lick her with delicate strokes, he finally checked her facial expression a couple of times to make sure he was heading in the right direction. And indeed, he was. Though she was tired, she still attempted to spread her trembling thighs even wider, giving her boyfriend all the space he needed to suck and lick all her sensitive areas.
As she propped her feet up on his shoulders, he took his cue to round her clit over and over before fucking her pussy deep with his tongue, rubbing his mouth up and down her juicy slit until he felt her quiver and pulse. His hands gripping Ashley’s ass firmly, he tugged it closer as her body shook and shivered with delight, obviously relishing every second of orgasmic pleasure.
Between the hot shower and the stimulating events of the evening, Ashley was thoroughly exhausted, but she stood and extended a hand, encouraging Andy to sit in the warmed seat. Now it was his turn to enjoy a steaming hot orgasm.

Kneeling in front of him, she took his cock in her hand, starting off slow, twisting with a light motion, and it wasn’t long before his half-mast member once again rose in the air to full attention.
Lovingly, his fingers pulled through her short, wet hair as her soft tongue rolled over the head of his reddened broad penis and she continued stroking the base of his shaft. Gliding her lips over the silky head, she reveled in the first taste of his salty pre-cum, and as she took him deeper into her mouth, Andy’s hips instinctively moved forward, trying to drive his cock further down her throat.
Holding his thick, veined member in both hands, she simultaneously took as much of him as she could, trying not to gag as he thrust forward and gripped the bac
k of her head. Finally exploding, his cum flowed into her mouth as she stopped tugging on his tight skin and swallowed everything he had to give in a couple of gulps. Sliding his reddened cock from her lips, she rested her head on his warm thigh. “God, I’m so relaxed, I could just fall asleep like this.”
“Let’s dry off and snuggle in bed, my little darling,” Andy said through a tired grin. “It’s been an exhausting day for both of us.”
“Mmm. And then you’re going to tell me what Dan said at the bar tonight, right?”
“Of course. I knew you wouldn’t forget to ask.”

They were finally comfortable in bed when she turned her body toward him and slowly traced the dark stubble on his cleft chin with her fingertip. “Well? What did he say?”
“Ever since you said this could be an inside job, I’ve been racking my brain looking for a clue that would lead me to someone on the team. And after twenty-some years on the force, I think I’ve become fairly good at spotting a liar…”
“But you don’t think it’s Dan?”
“Nope. I don’t think so.”
She rolled onto her back and looked up at the ceiling. “So, why was he late for work yesterday?”
“He went for a run and lost track of time.”
“Yes, I’ve heard. I’m just floored that you believe him.” Her sigh was heavy and audible. “Okay, fine. Now what?”
“My plan is to have Teddy Laredo come in and question the staff, starting with the manager and the concierge before moving on to the maintenance crew. I think he’s just about the best we have as far as interrogation skills.”
“Well, he should be. I hear you trained him,” she said, flipping onto her side to cuddle against his chest.
“It’s killing me not to be at these interviews, and if he tells me that their eyes became pinpoints—”
“Funny, I thought Santa could be everywhere.”
He sighed and drew her close. “There was a time when I was responsible for both the homicide squad and the sex crimes unit. It was not only mentally, but physically exhausting.”
“I heard why you gave up your commanding position in homicide.” She stroked his hair as he turned his head to stare out the window. “Do you want to talk about what happened to Lauren?”
“There’s not much to tell. She died in my arms trying to be a hero.”
“Is that why you’re so protective of me?” she asked, her voice barely a whisper.
Turning toward her, he tenderly kissed her forehead and wrapped his hands around her waist. “I’m going to watch every move you make until this monster is caught.”
“God, I love being in your arms. I’ve never felt safe like this with anyone in my whole life.”
“We’re going to catch him soon, Ashe. I can feel it in my bones.”
Chapter Twelve
There was a knock on his partially opened office door and Chris Hoover, the manager of the Eden Roc Hotel swiveled his chair to see who it was. “Come on in.”
Detective Laredo pushed the door open a bit further and poked his head inside. “I know our appointment was not for another ten minutes, but I’m running early. If it’s not a convenient time for you, I can wait in the lobby,” he said with a quick nod over his shoulder.
“No, no, it’s not a problem. I was just checkin’ on some additional people we hired for the holiday. Winter break is always a busy season for us around here.”
“You’re so swamped this time of year that you hired extras?” Teddy asked, making himself comfortable in a chair beside the desk. “And here I always thought people would be more interested in going east with hopes of having snow for the holiday. I guess it’s normal to want what you can’t have.”
“Well, I’ve never had a white Christmas and don’t particularly feel the need for one, so where would I fit into your profile?” he responded in a pompous tone.
Teddy didn’t break eye contact with the arrogant man, while taking a miniature spiral notebook from his jacket pocket.
Chris Hoover raised one bushy eyebrow. “Well, that’s why you’re here, isn’t it? To interrogate me? To see if I’m the man attackin’ women in South Beach?”
“Actually, I’m just here to see if you could help us out by answering a few questions.”
“I thought I was already helping you out, by giving Santa and his helpers a place to set up surveillance for the Miami-Dade sex crimes unit.”
Teddy didn’t flinch. “Yes, that’s true, but we’re also trying to eliminate all local possibilities at this point—”
“And by possibilities you mean suspects.”
“Persons of interest,” he politely corrected. “So, would you mind telling me where you were Tuesday morning, before you came to work?”
His nostrils flared as he looked up at the ceiling. “I was at home.”
“And you live only a few blocks away from here. Is that correct?”
The manager smiled and slowly turned his head to face him. “I’m sure you’ve checked my address by now. Would you also like to know that I had a breakfast burrito from Taco Bell?”
“I know where you live, and your dietary issues are not my concern,” he deadpanned, staring into his eyes. “But what I am interested in is your military background. I understand that you were in the army before you took this job.”
His stare never wavered as a crooked grin appeared across his lips. “That is correct, I served four years in the U.S. Army. And in case you’re interested, I still own all my old military T-shirts and fatigue pants.”
“I’m sure there are a lot of memories attached to them,” Teddy said, tilting his head. “Good and bad.”
Raising his starched white cuff, he glanced at his watch. “I don’t want to be rude, Detective, but I’m sure you have other people to interrogate this mornin’, and I have a lot of work to do.”
“Thank you for your time, Mr. Hoover. We not only appreciate your hospitality in this hotel, but also your cooperation,” he responded politely in an even tone, extending his hand.
Though the hotel manager gripped his palm and managed a faint smile, his narrowed eyes told another story. “Of course, Detective. Always glad to be of help to the MDPD.”
Detective Laredo stood and turned to walk away, but then he stopped short and pivoted. “Hey, is there any way I could get the names of the people who applied to work here for the holiday season?”
“Of course, but wouldn’t you just rather have the short list of those who were hired?”
Teddy grabbed the doorknob behind him and shook his head. “Right now, Mr. Hoover, I’m interested in all the names.”

Andy opened his hotel room door and looked both ways before waving in Detective Laredo. “Well, what’s your take on our hotel manager?”
“He definitely won’t win any prizes in a Mr. Personality contest, but I don’t think he’s our guy.”
Entering from the balcony, Ashley cleared her throat. “What did you think of his body language?”
“Our hotel manager didn’t seem nervous at all, and though he obviously wasn’t happy that I took up fifteen minutes of his precious work day, the dude didn’t seem to be lying about anything.”
She sat down, crossed one leg over the other, and pursed her lips. “Did you ask him where he was when the rape occurred the other day?”
He threw Andy a glance and then focused his eyes on her. “Of course I did. He said he came straight to work that morning.”
“Did you ask him if anyone can corroborate his story?” she asked, readjusting herself in the high-backed stuffed chair.
“I didn’t think it was necessary, Ashley. He didn’t seem to be lying. The man didn’t move a muscle when I questioned him. His eyes were clear, and his pupils remained the same size.”
“But it was only a five-minute interview—”
“Ten,” he gently corrected before taking a seat at the desk in the corner.
“I’m sure we’re all familiar with the popular saying: the eyes are the windows to the soul.”
“Except that sociopaths don’t have the same soul that we do. Their eyes appear dead like a shark’s.”
Teddy nodded and crossed one leg over the other, mirroring hers. “You’re absolutely right about that. Touché, Detective.”
“Did you find anything else out, Teddy?” Andy asked, throwing Ashley a look that clearly said you aren’t in charge here, before taking a seat on the bed.
“As a matter of fact, the hotel had put out a call to hire temporary workers for the holiday, and our manager was good enough to share the list of people who not only got the job, but also those who applied for it.”
“Okay, let’s get on it. I’d like you to do a background check of everyone on the list complete with pictures, so we can compare them with surveillance film of who’s been walking through the lobby.”
“What about the concierge, Lieutenant? Should I keep my appointment with him tomorrow?”
Ashley raised an eyebrow. “God, I’d love to question that man. He gives me the creeps.”
“I’m sure you would, but for now I’d like to have Dan in on that conversation, so if it’s possible, Teddy, see if you can schedule the interview before I need him in the lobby.”
“Of course, boss, whatever you want.”
“By the way, have you seen Detective Neilly lately?”
“The last time I saw him, he was downstairs, making sure our surveillance cameras are in good working order.”
Chapter Thirteen
Dan Neilly knocked on the office door and Teddy Laredo stood behind him as the concierge of the Eden Roc Hotel called out, “Come on in, it’s open.”
